South Carolina's economic loss from traffic fatalities is greater than Georgia's.
The National Safety Council established a formula for calculating the estimated economic loss from traffic fatalities. The calculable costs of motor-vehicle crashes are wage and productivity losses, medical expenses, administrative expenses, motor vehicle damage, and employer costs.
Based on the NSC’s estimated cost for fatalities of $1,000,000, South Carolina’s total economic loss from speed related fatalities was $410 million in 2003.
